While the name is evolving, what matters most remains unchanged: you’ll continue to receive the same high-quality products and reliability you’ve trusted for decades, as the transition to Elvacite™ takes place gradually and we phase out the existing Dianal inventory and fulfill contractual commitments.

Our story is one of innovation, drive, vision and progress. Since our inception nearly 100 years ago, we have led the way in the design, development, and manufacture of acrylic polymers and resins. 1960 DuPont Developed Elvacite™ for coatings, inks, and adhesives, produced at the Parkersburg, WV plant.
1970
1973 MRC Beads Resin
Production begins in Japan
1980
1988 Bonar Renamed Bonar Polymers; started production at Newton Aycliffe, Co. Durham, UK.
1990
1990 Bonar Manufactured coating grades for “Lucite Holland” on a toll basis.
1990 Dianal America Ground-Breaking of “Dianal America, Inc” by Mitsubishi Rayon Corp (MRC)
1992 ICI Acrylics Acquired DuPont acrylics, including the “Lucite™” and “Elvacite™” brands, and production in Parkersburg, WV. Transferred Billingham, UK. plant production to Bonar.
1992 Dianal America First production of Acrylic Resin in USA
1993 ICI Acquired acrylic resins business from DuPont, consolidating operations at Parkersburg, WV.
1999 ICI Acrylics Acquired by Ineos and renamed to Ineos Acrylics, eventually becoming Lucite International.
2000
2000 Ineos Acquired Bonar Polymers, bringing Elvacite™ production to the Newton Aycliffe site to improve European market service.
2001 MRC/DIAP Started production in Thailand
2002 Ineos Spun off Lucite International.
2008 MRC Acquired Lucite International.
2009 MCC & MRC Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation acquires Mitsubishi Rayon Co.
2010
2015 MRC Project Voyager: Ceased Elvacite™ bead resin production in Parkersburg, transferring production to Pasadena, TX; Hiroshima, JP; and Newton Aycliffe, UK.
2017 Mitsubishi Rayon Merged into Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, integrating Lucite International.
2018 MCA & DuPont Stopped manufacturing of Lucite®/Elvacite™ at Lucite facility -- production moved to Dianal America and MCC Hiroshima
2019 Lucite International Expanded Elvacite™ production in Europe in Rozenburg, NL, producing Elvacite® 2016 and 2013.
2020
2020 Dianal America Dianal America, Inc. name change to Mitsubishi Chemical America, Inc. Specialty Resins Division
